Jørgen Hansen has presented us with a fantastic publication on the water supply of Hadrian’s Villa. This brings his many years of intensive research on this complex subject to a final conclusion. It seems as if Hansen has investigated and documented every corner of this prestigious imperial villa. In any case, this publication impresses with its findings in the text and with its illustrations. Documentary photos and drawings, supplemented by historical images, make this book exciting to study in detail as soon as you leaf through it. Hansen would not be a Latinist if he did not also present a translation from the Frontinus publication (chapters 90-93). The foreword by Mari Zaccaria, archaeologist at the Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici del Lazio, ennobles this publication.
