Autor: Wiplinger G., Frontinus-Gesellschaft e.V. - ÖAI

Proceedings of the International Frontinus Symposium Vienna, 19-23 October 2011

This volume contains 22 contributions from the symposium presentations. A special focus is on the preservation of historic waterworks in accordance with their preservation and, where still in use, operational requirements. The contributions describe historic aqueducts that still serve the water supply today and are particularly well presented, as well as disused structures whose preservation and presentation is exemplary or desirable. The structures presented span a geographical area from Uzbekistan, Syria, Turkey, Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Portugal to South America, and a time span from the Hittites through the Romans and the Middle Ages to the 20th century.
